To hear this band play is like being transported back to a 1950’s Maxwell Street blues club. JD delivers a "big-tone", amplified urban Blues harmonica sound, reminiscent of Little Walter and Big Walter Horton.
This outfit features some of the best exponents of old-school Blues residing in the UK:
JD moved from France, his native country, to London UK, 20 years ago and plays wherever his Blues music takes him. In spite of his Irish, Italian and French roots, Julien cut his teeth, living in Austin, Texas. In 2000, while working for Antone's record label by day, at night he would sit in on harmonica with some of the cities' finest: Gary Clarke Junior, Miss Lavelle White, the Keller Brothers, Uncle John Turner (drummer for Johnny Winter) Clarence Holloman and Gary Primich.
Julien's most recent collaborations include performances in Denmark with Ronni Auðar-Boysen (2013 award nominee for the "Blues Name of the Year in Denmark" and 2018 "Guitarist of the Year") ex- guitarist for the Kokomo Kings and Mud Morganfield (son of Muddy Waters). And occasional shows backing Little Victor on harmonica.
JD will be releasing a new album (produced by Little Victor) in early 2024, that features several surprise special guests. In addition he is a regular session player and has several other projects in the pipeline.
